Ways of Selecting Perfect Conservatory Lighting For You

There are plenty of options open to you when deciding how to light
lean-to conservatories
. Will you be using the room year round? That is probably one of the most important questions you need to ask yourself when making your decision.

If you have a 3 season conservatory, it is designed to make the most of the better weather and lighter days and will not be that pleasant during the winter. Glass tends to be used heavily in these conservatories to maximize the light. Often the glass goes from floor to ceiling. When the temperature drops in late autumn, though, you will find that you feel it in the conservatory unless it is well heated.

A four season conservatory is built differently looking for a compromise between enjoying the best of the good weather while still offering decent protection from the elements in bad weather. You will find the materials used are more durable and certainly double glazing will be used. These conservatories can be better characterized as an additional room as they tend to have heating in the same way as the rest of the house. The difference in temperature when a structure is built with a mix of brick and glass is notable although of course the trade off is that the room will not be as light during the brighter months. They may also have a solid roof, which does drastically reduce natural light filling the room from the ceiling; however skylights are an option to get the most out of the summer months.

Remember when it comes to electric lighting that different bulbs produce a different kind of light. Tungsten lighting produces a warmer light for a cosier and more relaxing environment whereas Halogen and Fluorescent create a crisper white light, ideal for reading tasks and offices.

Look for a balance between natural and artificial light by measuring the space and selecting the bulb accordingly. Tungsten lighting will typically need around 25 watts per meter of room, compared to just 19 for fluorescent lights and 15 for halogen.
